    Therapy could've helped? Maybe?

The thing about this book is that I thought I was signing up for a magical tournament. You know spells, strategy, maybe suffering. Instead, it turned into people repeatedly proving that unlimited magical power does not automatically come with good decision-making. There’s politics. There’s danger. There’s alliances that feel stable right up until they absolutely are not. And every challenge somehow becomes both life-changing and unnecessarily stressful. I kept thinking, surely they can just talk this out. But then there wouldn’t be a trial, would there? Magical, dramatic, and an excellent reminder that competition really brings out the weird in people.

It was pretty entertaining, I might like air awakens a bit more though. I am really awful with predicting plot twist, so if even I can see it coming, consider it way too obvious. Seriously, someone sending you a letter, asking to meet you, not even bothering to use „please“ and the first question being asked is about how to kill water runners, should make you skeptical.

Silence was often the best path forward in a noisy world. First of all: Look at that cover! Beautiful! Elise Kova is making her way onto my list of favorite authors. I really enjoyed this book from first to last page and I cannot wait for the sequel! Eira is a wonderful character to follow and the people (the world basically) that surround her are amazing as well. Her "choice" in love interests is questionable but the story was great, though it was a bit slow at the start. The world building had me irritated sometimes but that might have been because I haven't read The Air Awakens (I will do that asap, though!). The writing blew me away and I was barely ever able to put this down! I have to admit a huge issue with this book, though. The name Cullen. Everytime I read it, my mind went "sparkling, creepy vampires" which gave me flashbacks to reading hours I don't want to relive.
