A stage set for villains ist ein Buch, was in keiner Weise an die anderen Bücher herankommt. Die ich bisher gelesen habe. Das writing war unglaublich toll und ich liebe die Charaktere. Jude und Riven sind so so toll und ich hab in jeder Sekunde mitgefühlt. Das Ende war ganz anders als erwartet aber so unglaublich passend für dieses Buch. 💗 Leider war ich ab und zu total verwirrt und Rivens Entscheidungen waren manchmal etwas kompliziert dargestellt. Ansonsten eine klare Empfehlung 🎭🫂

Ich habe Theater erwartet und bekommen - ein düsteres Caraval könnte man sagen, Spieler mit Magie (Craft) die im halben Teil des Landes geliebt, im anderen verhasst sind. Mitten drin irgendwie Riven, Außenseiterin, mutmaßlich verflucht, auf jeden Fall krank und mit viel Wut im Bauch. Ihre Entscheidungen waren sicherlich nicht rational, was sie irgendwie unberechenbar und die Story sehr spannend gemacht hat. Also unter anderem! Die Spieler und das Konzept an sich waren faszinierend und durchdacht, vielschichtig. Jude auf jeden Fall mein Highlight - er hat mich wirklich sehr oft laut auflachen lassen. Ab der Hälfte des Buches ungefähr kam es gänzlich anders als ich erwartet hatte. Die Wendungen und Twists habe ich nicht ansatzweise kommen sehen und etwas für mich komplett neues erlebt. Das Ende 🥹 Wirklich fantastisch und bewegend.
„Do you believe what they say about Fate?“ I ask Jude. „That Fate bows to no man.“ „Yes,“ Jude replies and looks down at me. „I think she‘d be terrified of you, though.“
What a debut. I didn’t expect this to be such a good read, let alone one of my new favorites, but it kept me thrilled and entertained throughout. I loved the setting and its unique, multi-layered theatre theme, the plot twists, and especially the MCs with their sarcastic mouths and skills. I’ll miss darling Jude and his lethal charm, as well as clever Riven with her determined and stubborn attitude. Galen could have gotten more screen time, though, and the ending was one hell of a ride that could’ve been a bit shorter but thats just a nickpick and nothing that really took away from the story

Ich wusste nur, dass es um Theater geht im Fantasysetting und dass das Magiesystem auf Schauspieltechniken basiert und war direkt sold. Und das Buch hat mich null enttäuscht, ich fand es großartig!! Die Welt war toll beschrieben, das Mysteryelement war spannend und man hat die ganze Zeit mit gerätselt. Die Charaktere waren gut ausgearbeitet und die Dynamik zwischen den Protagonisten war sooo toll. Als absolutes Theaterkind war das wirklich das perfekte Buch für mich. Aber auch wenn man nichts über das Theater und dessen Welt weiß, kommt man hier super klar und kann eine ganz tolle Zeit haben. Eine große Empfehlung von mir und ich bin gespannt, was die Autorin als nächstes macht.
