About the book

Magic-sensitive Maeve and her friends face off against an insidious threat to their school and their city in this spellbinding sequel to All Our Hidden Gifts.

It’s senior year, and Maeve and her friends are practicing and strengthening their mystical powers, while Maeve’s new relationship with Roe is exhilarating. But as Roe’s rock star dreams start to take shape, and Fiona and Lily make plans for faraway colleges, Maeve, who struggles in school, worries about life without them—will she be selling incense here in Kilbeg, Ireland, until she’s fifty? Alarm bells sound for the coven when the Children of Brigid, a right-wing religious organization, quickly gains influence throughout the city—and when its charismatic front man starts visiting Maeve in her dreams. When Maeve’s power starts to wane, the friends realize that all the local magic is being drained—or rather, stolen. With lines increasingly blurred between friend and foe, the supernatural and the psychological, Maeve and the others must band together to protect the place, and the people, they love. A thrilling sequel to All Our Hidden Gifts.

I realized after 50% of the book that I'm reading part 2 of a series. I'm glad that it wasn't really as consequential for my reading experience.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 & 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗼𝘁 👥️📝 This books is focused around Maeve, her partner Roe, and her friends Lily (Roe's sister) and Fiona. They all have exceptional gifts: Maeve has mind reading/sight, Roe can pick locks, Lily channels electricity and Fiona can heal. Over the course of this book they practice their powers but they're soon met with old enemies that try to set an end to their gifts. My favorite characters are probably Nuala and Manon, they are the most likable out of them all. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 💭 The dynamics were truly tense most of the time. Family dynamics and those with Maeve's friends were really intense, although that's realistic, it didn't create a great reading atmosphere. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 3.5 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀? ⭐ I liked this book overall but there were many plotholes to me and together with the tense atmosphere, I had to distract 1.5 Stars. I loved the lore about witches and the plot itself was really interesting. Also the cover with the icons for their gifts and the gifts themselves were pretty amazing!
