About the book

A NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

Sophie Gonzales and Cale Dietrich's “If This Gets Outis an absolute showstopper! Equal parts edgy and adorable, this bright, joyful book has everything I look for in a queer YA romance.” —Phil Stamper, bestselling author ofThe Gravity of Us

You’re in the most popular boy band in America…and all you want is the boy singing next to you.

Eighteen-year-olds Ruben Montez and Zach Knight are two members of the boy-band Saturday, one of the biggest acts in America. Along with their bandmates, Angel Phan and Jon Braxton, the four are teen heartthrobs in front of the cameras and best friends backstage.

But privately, the pressure to stay in the closet has Ruben confiding in Zach.

On a whirlwind tour through Europe with an unrelenting schedule and minimal supervision, the two come to rely on each other more and more, and their already close friendship evolves into a romance. But when they decide they’re ready to tell their fans and live freely, Zach and Ruben realize they will never truly have the support they need.

How can they hold tight to each other when their whole world is coming apart?

2,75☆ So, it's not a bad book, but not for me. The premise sounded interesting, but I guess books about stars/celebrities might not be my thing. It's good that they kept it realistic and showed the mistreatment in the music industry, but it was a bit too much exhausting drama to read. Didn't have much fun with it, though I did like their relationship. That was the best part ❤️ The story is about "Saturday," the most popular boy band at the moment. Consistent of Ruben, Zach, Jon, and Angel. It's time for their world tour, and with that comes increased pressure to be perfect, especially from their management, who dictates their every move. Ruben just finally wants to come out to the world. He hates that he has to hide that he is gay, as well as his big crush on Zach, who is just realizing he might not be as straight as he always thought. The others also have things to face, and one of the main topics is drug abuse and toxic parents (the amount of time I wanted to strangle Ruben's mum). I thought that was all handled well, just so depressing to read. There was always something happening just when you thought it's finally time for some good moments. Not that there weren't any, but just not enough for me in-between all that drama. Being a star just always sounds awful 🙃 The relationship itself was nice, but that mis/non-communication after their first kiss was so annoying omg. The book felt really long in general, but that part just dragged on forever. I could understand Zach's problem, but the way he handled the situation wasn't fair, imo. There was such a long time where they didn't interact at all. Also, something that kept bothering me was that their "tone" was written too similar. We have a double POV (which I usually like), but way too many times, I had to check whose POV we were in atm. They do have different personalities, but when it's not about something specific, they sounded really similar. I did like the end, but their "plan" was so not thought through. I literally had to shake my head and was like, "Well, what did you think would happen?!" 😅 There were just too many things that annoyed me, but, as I said, it's not that the book was bad. I just wasn't feeling it personally 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Eine so herzberührende Geschichte

Friends to lovers is einfach so schön zu lesen.
