About the book

Return to the beloved world of the Shaw and Campbell families in Louisa May Alcott's "Rose in Bloom," the delightful sequel to "Eight Cousins." Years have passed, and Rose Campbell is no longer the young girl readers first met; she is now a young woman navigating the complexities of adulthood and the expectations of her family.

Alcott's timeless exploration of family life continues as Rose faces new challenges and makes important choices about her future. Surrounded by her boisterous cousins and guided by the wisdom of her extended family, Rose's journey is one of self-discovery and the enduring power of familial bonds.

This meticulously prepared edition preserves the charm and warmth of Alcott's classic domestic fiction, offering readers a glimpse into a bygone era while exploring themes of adolescence, social expectations, and the importance of strong female relationships. A heartwarming tale for readers of all ages, "Rose in Bloom" remains a testament to Alcott's enduring storytelling and her insightful portrayal of young women coming of age.

Weirdly glad about the bad german translation I read this book in for the first nine times. It gave me the chance to re-read and re-discover my all-time-favourite book as though it was my first time reading it. Through a decade of knowing it, I was able to grow up with Rose and her/ Uncle Alec‘s Values and, with each re-read discover something new in the story read with a new perspective. Now I am all sunshine and smiles because I finished this series again and can’t wait for my next re-read to make me this happy.

What a great story. This is among my favorite classics for sure. I enjoyed Eighth Cousins but this is way better.
