Das Buch beschreibt sich schon gut mit dem Satz „die Verwirrung ist verwirrt“ Aus einem Toten wurden 5 und irgendwie gehörten alle zusammen, sind aber in 3 verschiedenen Ländern gestorben. Und ein bissle Drogenhandel ist auch dabei. War spaßig!

Kann ein Mann zwei Mal sterben? Mit dieser Frage sieht sich Dr. Tempe Brennan diesmal konfrontiert. Die Forensikerin muss die Vergangenheit eines Mannes aufrollen, der angeblich schon in den 1968 in Vietnam bei einem Hubschrauberabsturz ums Leben gekommen ist. Doch wie kommt es, dass die in Plastik eingewickelte Leiche, welche am Ufer eines Sees aufgefunden wurde, die gleichen Blutmerkmale besitzt? Brennan reist nach Hawaii, wo die staatliche Behörde zur Auffindung vermisster US-Soldaten tätig ist. Und nicht nur wegen der Temperaturen erweist sich das Inselparadies Hawaii sehr bald als heißes Pflaster für Tempe. Denn die örtlichen Drogenhändler reagieren auf neugierige Ermittlerinnen so instinktiv wie Haie auf einen blutigen Köder. Ich fand diesen Teil zwar nicht ganz so spannend wie die übrigen Bücher von Kathy Reichs, aber es ist trotzdem interessant. Man erfährt viel über die Suche nach Vermissten des 2. Weltkrieges und Vietnamkrieges sowie über die Maßnahmen zur Identifikation der gefundenen Leichenteile.
