Ok, so, I've finished the Monogram Murders...I actually finished them two days ago. But I had to read the ending twice. In my opinion it's pretty far-fetched and quite confusing. Also, how did Catchpoole ever be able to join Scotland Yard. My grandma is a better detective than he is. Not being able to see bodies because of a Childhood trauma? Let me tell you, there are far worse traumas out there than his one. He leaves a crime scene and believes every witness he encounters without questioning their motives or their story in the slightest. in the old Hercule Poirot mysteries Hastings was Poirot's sidekick to emphasize Poirot's genius. But with Catchpoole as his sidekick, Poirot's doesn't look like a genius but more like the average human being. But all in all if have to say that Sophie Hannah captured Poirot's character pretty well. He went on my nerves 48 pages into the book, which he always did, also in the old mysteries.
