About Lyman Frank Baum

Lyman Frank Baum (1856-1919) est un écrivain américain, principalement connu pour avoir créé l'univers du pays d'Oz. Publié pour la première fois en 1900, Le Magicien d'Oz connaît un succès immédiat et devient l'un des récits pour la jeunesse les plus lus et les plus adaptés au monde. Baum souhaitait écrire un conte moderne, débarrassé des morales trop sévères et des peurs inutiles, afin d'offrir aux enfants une histoire fondée sur l'émerveillement, l'imagination et le plaisir de la lecture. Son oeuvre a profondément marqué la littérature jeunesse et continue d'influencer la culture populaire plus d'un siècle après sa publication.
