Twice Shy

Ich lese kaum Liebesgeschichten, aber das hier hatte mich von der Beschreibung her sehr interessiert. Zu Beginn kam ich nicht an in der Geschichte und hab das Buch erstmal beiseite gelegt. Aber ab dem Moment, wo sich die Charaktere angenähert haben wird die Geschichte so süß und ich konnte das Buch nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Die Schüchternheit und sozialen Ängste der Charaktere haben für mich gut funktioniert.

I haven’t gotten over it.” “I think you are beautiful, too, Maybell. I think that you walked into my life and absolutely ruined it with how beautiful you are.” “You ever think you were single for no reason and then you meet someone and realize you’ve been waiting for them without knowing it?” as you can tell from all the quotes, this book was just perfection in my eyes. i appreciated how Wesley’s social anxiety was portrayed. as someone with social anxiety, it felt remarkably realistic and accurately described. the unfolding of the forced proximity aspect was well-executed, and the natural progression of their relationship added to its authenticity. moreover, there’s no third-act breakup— very much grumpy x sunshine and forced proximity, tropes i genuinely enjoy. i also identified with Maybell, being an INFP who retreats into her thoughts and often diminishes herself to please others. combating social anxiety, Wesley adopts a tough and egoistic exterior but has such a golden retriever personality. the romance itself was incredibly tender and pure—a perfect read!
