The book starts with the story of Lucy and her finding the body of a girl who disappeared a year before. The books tells the story wiith chapters from everyones point of view but I got a little confused as the story jumps quite a bit, between Lucy and Lila. It took me a couple of chapters to realise that Lila is actually Lucys mum and she had disappeared when Lucy was little. It tells of a small town called Henbane where everyone is suspicious of everyone else especially if you arent a native and everyone gossips about everyone else. Lucy whats to know whats happened to her mum and where Cheri her friend was for the year before Lucy found her body in the tree. No one knows where her mum went, she just disappeared but Lucy cant believe that someone who she knows to have loved her so much could walk away like that. She isnt sure who to trust and people who she has known her whole life are found to have their secrets. It was a good story, it jumped around a little for me at the beginning but when you get the stock of what is actually going on it builds up a very good yarn. I love the descriptions of the small town, I had this picture in my head and could see all these characters. There were a few twists and turns with everything being revealed at the last minute. Good read from the library but I wouldnt be raving about it.
