When the Man in the Moon brought together the Guardians, he warned them that they would face some terrible evils as they strove to protect the children of earth. But nothing could have prepared them for this: Pitch has disappeared and taken Katherine with him. And now the Guardians are not only down one member, but a young girl is missing.
Fortunately, MiM knows just the man to join the team. Sanderson ManSnoozy—known in most circles as the Sandman—may be sleepy, but he’s also stalwart and clever and has a precocious ability to utilize sand in myriad ways. If the other Guardians can just convince Sandy that good can triumph evil, that good dreams can banish nightmares, they’ll have themselves quite a squad. But if they can’t…they might never see Katherine again.

In Band vier von „The Sandman and the War of Dreams“ tauchen wir endlich tief in Pitchs komplette Hintergrundgeschichte ein – nicht mehr nur kleine Bruchstücke wie in den vorherigen Teilen.
Und ganz ehrlich: Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass ich einmal wirklich Mitleid mit ihm haben würde. Doch genau das ist passiert. Man versteht plötzlich, warum er geworden ist, wie er ist – und das trifft einen emotional stärker, als man erwartet. Zusätzlich stößt in diesem Band der Sandmann zu den Hütern und hilft ihnen dabei, Kathrine zu befreien. Gegen Ende musste ich sogar schmunzeln, weil es einfach süß war – und gleichzeitig kam wieder dieser typische Gedanke auf: „Was ist das bitte für ein Ende?!“ Genau diese Mischung aus Emotion, Action und fiesen Cliffhangern liebe (und verfluche) ich an dieser Reihe. Jetzt steht das große Finale mit dem letzten Buch und Jack Frost bevor – und ich bin absolut bereit dafür. Diese Reihe hält mich emotional komplett gefangen, und nach diesem Band kann ich es kaum erwarten zu erfahren, wie alles endet.
