This is the extended annotated edition including the rare biographical essay by Edwin E. Slosson called "H. G. Wells - A Major Prophet Of His Time". Mr. Wells was an expert in social satire in the form of prophetic fiction. The world war of the future, which is going on in the novel, is brought about by the activities of the believers in the stream of history, who play right into the hands of the militarists. One of their number, Mr. Parham, is dictator of England. Money, big business and science are his enemies and the saviors of the world.
