Overall, this book is heavier than the previous one. Anna is working, when before she thought she didn't think she would need to, and things are complicated for her. Whisperers are following her around constantly and she can't fake anymore. So she works and waits for her Dad's calls. But in the meantime, she can't show her real affection for the woman that raised her and even with her friends she can't appear to be too cozy. But then the book kick-starts and we are going on adventure after adventure and worrying about Anna and Kope fearing whisperers despite reassurances. We meet new characters that are complex and even have some deep issues and we also get to know better the characters were introduced in the first book, which is awesome because they are amazing! When we go to California things heat up a bit. It's tense at first between Kaidan and Anna, but things get resolved with a movie style ending, even though it's not the end of the book, which is at an airport when Kai goes to beg Anna to stay, after the whole debacle of the whisperer catching them kissing and the gang guys wanting to kill Kai. It was all a little to close to comfort. Then, dear ol' Dad tells Anna about her new friend, Zania, and she has to save her but she can't. Enter Kai and Kope to the rescue, with Flynn at their backs. Anna was really stressed, and so is the reader, by extension, but Blake is amazing and distracts us all. Oh, and before that! Kai and Anna make up and are together and are together (this is not a drill, people, this is not a drill! They are an official couple!) and it is truly the sweetest part of the entire book. After the gang that went to Syria comes back to L.A. it's chaos! They have to hide because some Dukes are going to L.A. but they go to the exact place where the Dukes go to: Blake's father's island. And it is the tensest part of the book, with our faves in the water for hours on end, almost hypothermic. And Flynn dies and that's horrible... Besides, they learn Anna is in danger because Rahab knows that Anna is the one from the prophecy and her Dad, to protect her as best she can, is arranging for her to move to Boston with him. But now he approves of her relationship with Kaidan, because he sees that he is not his father's son and is actually good, and so the book kind of ends on a high note, and that's good. Given all this, I think the next book is going to be even more fast-paced and entertaining than this one, but also a lot more dangerous. I can't wait to start it!

I am breezing through this series and honestly I am so glad I decided to read this. Since I just finished the TOG series I needed something cheesy and cliche that I could binge. Seeing Anna work was something I didn’t know I needed. I loved that although she felt guilty about it she admitted to enjoying the attention. She is the live of the party and she is good at what she does. Everyone can have their own opinions on this, but for me reading her partying made me want to go and get lost in it. I guess that wasn’t the authors intention or maybe it was idk. I also liked that she didn’t forget the fact that she is supposed to easily get addicted. The scenes were people had to tell her to stop her and pry the drugs away from her, where scenes that made her character even more real to me. I really tried to feel for Kope but I really didn’t lol. He seems like a nice guy but who are we trying to kid here. I am not reading a 2013 YA paranormal romance for the nice, well behaved guy. The story really got going for me from the moment she wasn’t travelling with Kope all the time. I loved having her meet up with Marna when she was in London for a layover. The twins coming to her graduation in flight attendant uniforms also wasn’t something I knew that I needed. And then the best part of the story began with her going to see Kaidan and Blake. From that moment on I could not put this book down. The tension, the angst, the ducking boathouse. Ladies and Lads I was so here for the drama. Anyway, I am curious to see how this all unfolds in the end and I am hoping for more of the Neph gang all together in one place. Ginger really grew on me…
