SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Slumdog Millionaire beschönigt nichts, erzählt die Geschichte von Ram Mohammad Thomas schonungslos, schafft es aber seine tragische Kindheit für die Leser*innen aushaltbar zu beschreiben. Die Art, wie die Geschichte erzählt wird, ist einzigartig und hat mich ab Seite 1 in ihren Bann gezogen. Für mich ein literarisches Meisterwerk!

Had to read it for school. Some said this book is bad, so my expectations weren't that high, but I was surprised. It wasn't that bad and quite interesting. It was a bit confusing at first, as the chapters of his life are not in order and the reader has to figure out the new setting at the beginning of every chapter, which was sometimes quite exhausting. But it displayed the different lives in India interesting and I think realistic (ofc I don't know the truth about India and the culture depicted in this book). I have to admit, the main character annoyed me sometimes, but sometimes he also acted in a way I somehow found relatable idk so in the end I could still sympathise with him.
