People being transported to slave markets. Women become victims of barbaric rape. Men are taken to unknown destinations. Helpless and abandoned. From somewhere, sounds of gunfire are heard. The smell of death permeates the novel. Characters in the book, women fix their eyes on the floor or shut their eyes in protest against reality. A plot that shakes man's mental makeup, and preys on its conscience. No other work has sensed so intensely the mind of women against the backdrop of war. Translation: Thomas George.
