Overall I enjoyed Skyward. I think the idea is really interesting and there were some really creative ideas like the giant bug. The art is also pretty and makes the world feel real and alive. Willa is a genuinely likeable protagonist and I even thought the love story was cute. However this last volume was a bit underwhelming after all the build-up the big conflict was solved kind of too easy and nothing seemed to change that much.
The third volume concludes the story of Willa and earth without gravity. It seamlessly picks up right where the second volume ended - at Willa's attempt to follow the clues her father left her in his notebook. She wants to fix the world, but doesn't have a lot of time, because Chicago is threatened by rebel forces. Additionally, her father's enemy has stolen his notes and is racing to destroy whatever solution her father had planned, to prevent his gravity-related business from becoming obsolete. It wasn't hard to get back into the story, even though it's been a while since I read the first two books. The pace is fast and the first huge plot twist happens in the first chapter. I found the solution of the conflict very interesting and surprising. I also really enjoyed Willa's agility in her low g-maneuvers. However, there were a few questions left unanswered. Mainly about the physics of atmosphere without gravity, or if Willa's dad's fear really was too big to send her to their solution a lot earlier. (It feels a little weird that he never did that in the light of the new revelations.) I don't want to be too strict, though. I definitely liked the Skyward comics, mainly because of their high tension, interesting world-building and beautiful art.
