Über das Buch

From Emmy Award–winning comedian, former Daily Show host, and #1 New York Times bestselling author Trevor Noah comes the young readers edition of his acclaimed memoir—a powerful and deeply personal story of growing up under and after apartheid in South Africa.

“A piercing reminder that every mad life—even yours—could end up a masterpiece.” —Jason Reynolds, #1 New York Times bestselling author

We do horrible things to one another because we don’t see the person it affects. . . . We don’t see them as people.

Born to a Black South African mother and a white European father, Trevor Noah entered the world at a time when his very existence violated apartheid law. With humor and sharp insight, Trevor recounts his childhood navigating a deeply unjust society, where his mother's unwavering love helped him survive and thrive.

Adapted for young readers from the #1 New York Times bestseller Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood, this unforgettable memoir explores identity, family, race, and resilience through one extraordinary life. Trevor's story offers young readers a compelling perspective on South Africa's tumultous racial history and on the power of hope, courage, and finding your place in the world.

Da sieht man's mal wieder - das wahre Leben schreibt einfach die besten Geschichten. Trevor Noah nimmt uns mit in seine unglaubliche Kindheit während der Apartheid und in seine Jugend in Südafrika.

Truly an incredible story. I laughed and cried, and couldn't put this book down until I finished it. I highly recommend it.

I‘ve never been happier that a book was done. Really. I despised every second of it. I get it. The topic is really important. And I don’t accept racism in ANY way. But this book… I hated the execution of the message it tried to send. And the end? Okay, well it was a miracle, his mother made it. Why so ever. But I couldn’t help but not care. I really didn’t. I‘m so sorry. But I secretly hoped that she’d die, so there was anything in this book that was in some way realistic. Like I said, I get the importance of this book. And his life was a mess. And I feel really sorry for him. And I would’ve felt sorry for him if his mother died. But at so so many points in that book I just hat the feeling I was reading a novella and that it es literally fiction. I really DIDNT enjoy my time reading this.
