In Your Dreams: A Novel (When in Rome Book 4)

4-4.25 Such a lovely last book in the Rome, Kentucky series! Madison and James have great chemistry. Their banter, shared humour and the fact that they know each other since forever definitely comes through in their conversations and little moments. Madison describes herself as The Failure, who seemingly can’t stick to a career path, feels kind of lost in life, something many can probably relate too, and more often than not, the people of Rome, even though it comes from a loving place, remind her of that. Throughout the book she reminisces a lot about her life and what she actually wants from it, as well as face the decision if cooking is something she will stick to for good. During this process she turns, thanks to James, from culinary school graduate to chef real quick and has to navigate this new position while working through her rather horrible internship experience during culinary school. If Madison has a number one fan, it’s without a doubt, James! While helping with the opening of the new restaurant, Madison interviews people for several positions in said restaurant. I would have loved to see some snippets of the hiring process and to see her make those kinds of decisions on who she would want to work with and how she will lead her staff and run her kitchen. As this is the last book in the series, I do wish there was some sort of epilogue one, two, maybe three years later, tying everything together. I’m just a sucker for a good epilogue… (Will Tommy get his own book? Because…I can totally see the potential!) Excited for Sarah’s future project! Until then I will make it my 2026 mission to *finally* catch up on some of Sarah’s contemporary backlog titles. Thank you Headline Eternal for providing this book for review via NetGalley.
