Daphne Walters' Los Angeles story seems pretty common-she followed her high school boyfriend to college only to be immediately and unceremoniously dumped a thousand miles away from home. Her roommate doesn't want her around either, but fortunately one heart-broken night brings her to Rycroft Manor, an apartment complex with more roommates and drama than she had ever bargained for-and they're all ghosts!
While helping out the long-lingering and new residents of Rycroft, Daphne has to deal with everything from angry spirits, the mystery ghost behind the basement door, and her college roommate Michelle trying to exorcise her new friends out of their own home! All while dealing with a complicated love life, a more complicated best friend-ship, and learning her place in LA!
GLADD Award-nominated Sina Grace (Iceman, Superman: The Harvests of Youth) and illustrator Siobhan Keenan (Jem and the Holograms, KFC Presents I Love You Colonel Sanders) present a thrilling and fun tale about friendship, romance, and living your best (after) life that you won't want to leave on read. Der Comic hat mich tatsächlich positiv überrascht, denn anfangs war ich noch nicht ganz so angetan. Das Artwork war allerdings ab der ersten Seite richtig toll und die Charakterdesigns sehen toll aus. Man kann alle super gut auseinanderhalten und sie wirken sehr lebendig (sofern man das von Geistern sagen kann 😂). Der Plot wirkt anfangs noch etwas zäh, aber er bekommt immer mehr Tiefe. Man begleitet Daphne durch ihr Leben und auf ihrem Weg zur Selbstfindung. Aber nicht nur sie, auch viele andere Individuen beschreiten diesen Pfad und jeder hat ein anderes Erlebnis. Ich fand's auch toll, wie hier immer wieder das Thema Queerness aufgenommen und umgesetzt wurde. Auch bekommt man viele Einblicke in die Lebzeiten der Geister und was sie mitunter verloren und womit sie zu kämpfen haben. Alles wirkt sehr real und man kann sich gut in die einzelnen Situationen hineinversetzen. Das Ende fand ich auch sehr schön und hat alles nochmal wunderbar abgerundet. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Comic, sowohl optisch, als auch erzählerisch. Fände ich auch schön im deutschsprachigen Raum zu sehen 🥰 Erscheinungstermin ist der 25.11.2025
