When former forensic photographer Miranda Rhoads moves to the seaside town of Lost Beach, she's decided to make her living as a wildlife photographer and put crime scenes behind her. But her plans are quickly upended when one morning, she comes across a couple sleeping in a canoe, entwined in an embrace. Looking closer, she realizes the man and woman aren't asleep—they’ve been murdered.
Detective Joel Breda sets out to find answers--not only about the unidentified victims in the marshy death scene, but also about the aloof and beautiful photographer who seems to know more about his investigation than he does.
As they begin to unravel the motivation of a merciless serial killer, Miranda and Joel must race against the clock to make an arrest before the killer can find them first.

3.75 / 5.00 Leaving this review for a couple of days was a capital mistake because I was about to say I probably won’t remember much about this book when a bit of time has passed but I should have guessed it wouldn’t take more than a few days for my brain to dump anything resembling recollection of this down to wherever. This, however, is not supposed to mean it was a bad book. Not – at – all! I love Laura Griffin’s books as easy palate cleansers in between bigger projects or books of series because you always get what you came for: a romantic suspense novel with strong heroines and intriguing love interests with a sprinkle (like, for real, it’s a sprinkle not a boatload) of spice. It’s good for what it is and therefore I rate it this way even though I can’t recall the name of our FMC anymore just days after finishing it.
