“Ember and the Island of Lost Creatures” is a new Graphic Novel by Jason Pamment and I had the opportunity to read it in advance via NetGalley. It's about a human boy that doesn't fit into the human world due to his size, since he is roughly as tall as an apple. He sets out on an adventure to a secluded island to find his first friend. I am absolutely amazed by this book. The drawing style and narration were so whimsical and fun. I loved all the different characters and I really felt for Ember and his struggles. Its about friendship, belonging and acceptance. There are even some educational parts about different animals and their special abilities that were interesting. I would compare this book to the vibes of “The Secret World of Arrietty” by Studio Ghibli and Finding Nemo from Pixar Animation Studios. It's a Middle Grade book but I would say it's definitely worth a read for bookworms of all ages that like a heartfelt adventure.
