Under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, Emily Brontë published in 1847 what would become a landmark novel of English and World Romantic literature: Wuthering Heights. Set against the backdrop of the Earnshaw and Linton families, the novel tells the story of two generations whose lives intersect through the ill-fated love of the protagonist, Heathcliff, for his childhood friend, Catherine Earnshaw.
