3,5/5 stars I really liked it but to be honest: it had his flaws. First of all I loved the story! Sci-Fi mixed with dystopian elements is completely my cup of tea and I found also the two protagonists to be very likeable. We see Junior who should be the next Eldest onboard struggeling with his believes of everyone and everything on the Godspeed. And we have Amy, finally a female protagonist who isn't all this girly and needs protection -No! She thinks, acts out and kicks asses and i loved it! But unfortunately not everything was positive for me. I sometimes felt like my past-me would have loved it more. The writing style wasn't as complex as it could have been (yes it's YA I get it, don't @ me), forming sentences that were short and clipped. In some parts it really added to the scene's atmosphere and in some parts it just frustrated me. Secondly this book had some huuuuge Science Fails. I'll pack them in the spoiler brackets but let me spoilerfree tell you: I googled so much about nuclear science while reading this, I am suprised that national security had not knocked on my door yet. I'm really frustrated that seemingly nobody ever thought about what hormones as in contraceptica do to men. Really. Everybody drinks that effing water and no man shows signs of feminisation? I can't even. Orion ripped out his communication system with his bare hands, has a huge scar und has never seen any doctor? Sorry, but I cannot believe this. Also that neither the Eldest nor Doc were in the archive and seen him seems very unrealistic to me. And last but definitley not least: Godspeed's engine. See I really don't want to be Little Miss Know-it-all, but a little research about rocket science never killed nobody. In space a body in motion will stay moving in this exact same direction, have fuel or not. Yes it would be more slowly but it would keep moving, no standing-still. Also the reprocessing of uranium for the engine would blast their room capacities. Just saying. All in all: I really liked it but would have liked it more if I had a lesser knowledge about science. Nevertheless I can't wait to read the second book because I want to know what happens next!
