Melanchthon followed the Diet of Speyer from Wittenberg. The Turks in Hungary and other trouble spots were causing a great deal of concern in Europe and overshadowed the everyday life of the Wittenberg professor. 369 letters and other documents show Melanchthon’s manifold fields of activity, and he did in fact complain about the burden of all his tasks. The newly inflamed dispute about the Lord’s Supper and tension with Luther made him think of leaving Wittenberg. In his private life, he was very distressed about his daughter Anna’s unhappy marriage. He was deeply worried when she and her family moved to far away Königsberg.
