Planning, attending and protecting a lawn How important are lawns in our gardens? The book is written in German and starts with general descriptions but quickly goes into detail as to which grass species should be sown with regard to the use of the lawn - be it for sport or just to look at. In order to keep a permanently good looking lawn a few rules should be obeyed. Soil and water conditions must be perfect before sowing the grass seed. The soil should be free of stones, roots and weeds. It should not be too wet. Lawns should not be planned in a part of the garden which is shaded neither by houses, walls nor large trees. A well kept and attractive lawn is dependent mainly on its maintenance and the plant protection used. All tasks are explained to the gardener. Weeds, fungal diseases and pests are described including their control.
