Wisdom's Way / Safe House

A trio of well-known criminals plan and execute the robbery of a security van in the neighbouring county. After one of their number becomes unable to take part, the search is on for someone to replace him. They blackmail a work colleague into helping them, but he contacts the police and works with them to capture the trio. As a result of this, he and his family are targeted and are moved into the new 'Safe House'[ situated in the grounds of Cropley Grange, and have to be baby-sat by DCI Peter Powell and his team. Shortly afterwards, the incapacitated member of the trio is brutally murdered at Cropley Grange, and the incident is then passed to Chief Superintendent Matthew Wisdom to investigate. Cropley Grange is not all that it might at first appear. Could that cause a problem? Could 'The Drunken Duck' hold any clues for the police?
