Story was OK The Spice was great.
Guter spice!
Story was OK The Spice was great.
2.75 stars! this book was an up and down of emotions. i found the basic idea absolutely great, but it was super hard for me to get into the book because the writing style was an absolute disaster. it was very unpoetic and wattpad-like. since i read the book in german i can't judge if the writing style in the original sucks as well, or if it was just due to the translation. there were many expressions that i just found unpleasant. as already mentioned, i found the idea of the plot very nice. i found oaklyn kinda annoying at the beginning and flat as a character. I liked callum a lot. as the book progressed, it changed to the opposite for me: callum was annoying and oaklyn was great. i liked that the author addressed SA towards men. however, i didn't think the conflict that arose with callum's trauma was resolved well. the relationship between the two became very toxic and an unhealthy dependency developed, which we saw especially with callum as he became more possessive and the relationship with oaklyn brought him back to his alcoholism. basically this didn't bother me but it gave the story even more potential. but the solution would be absolutely crap. they separate for a month, he goes to his parents for 2 weeks and comes back as a completely new person? no thanks. you could have made so much out of this toxic relationship but this was just a forced happy ending. didn't like it at all. i don't know if i'll read the rest of the books. i don't care enough about the side characters to do so.
