UMTS UTRAN Signaling

This book provides insight into UMTS signaling on the wireline interfaces. It begins with a refresher on UMTS basics (including detail on the technical standards, network architecture, objectives and functions of different interfaces and various protocols of the UTRAN).The second part continues with procedures, from Node B setup to handover types, described and explained comprehensively. With this book, the reader has access to the first universal UMTS protocol sequence reference, which allows to quickly differentiate valid from invalid call control procedures. In addition, all main signaling stages are explained, many of which had previously been unclear. These stages can now be analyzed based on protocol traces from actual implementations.
