Eines der Bücher, bei dem man mehr über sich selbst lernt als über die Charaktere. Bunny hat mein Herz.
This book had A LOT of ups and downs, at the beginning it was pretty hard for me to get into the story and it took me a while to sort all the characters in my head. I absolutely loved the writing style of the book, there were a lot of beautiful quotes. During reading, especially during the middle part I had a lot of "wtf" moments where I was AMAZED by the storytelling and how well the characters are written. But towards the end and at the beginning it got quite boring to me, the chapters in this book are really long (some are more than 50 pages) and I really had to force myself to keep reading so I wouldn't call it a page turner. Donna Tart however has an unique writing style and even though finishing the book was quite hard, I did enjoy it and I'll definitely remember some of the quotes. I wouldn't say that it is something for everyone, definitely not for the romance readers because this has like no romance at all, but for people who like deep stories with complex characters, this might be worth a shot. For me as a non native B2 level English speaker it was quite hard to read at times but I think it is really worth it to read it in English even as a non native speaker because the writing style is definitely something special.
a narcissist, a psychopath, an incestrous pair of twins and then theres Richard
Bunny absolutely got on my nerves omg, what a narcissistic, racist, sexist and fvcking stupid human beeing. If they wouldn't have killed him, i would've pushed my ass into this story to kill him myself (look up "the secret history Catamount Theory")
one of the best books i've ever read

Ich kann gar nicht beschreiben, wie sehr ich dieses Buch geliebt habe. Ein Meisterwerk, wow!

A chaotic masterpiece.
The story was well thought through and very detailed. My favorite characters were Henry and Camila ( they also seemed like most complex together with Bunny). You must be a very good writer to not bore a reader on 620 pages, even when there is no action going on in the moment. It is worth reading for the experience of Donna Tarts writing and the storyline too.
