Read it because of school, very good

He realized that all his life he had been a nobody to everyone. What he now felt was the fear of his own oblivion. It was as though he did not exist. I read this book for my 100 book challenge. I already read it in school a few years back, and I really liked it, so it wasn't too hard to get back into it! The edition was a dream, it is sooo beautiful, I still cannot get enough of it. But I had the feeling I remembered nothing from the book. Like, everything felt like I read it for the first time and Idk why, but somehow that felt odd. I also had a hard time with some of the chapters, especially the one in the cave, as I felt like they were endless and had no real meaning behind them. So I thought they were kind of boring. Other than that, I liked it, even though I wouldn't particularly read it again.

Reread once a year. Always a good one again! Loved it the first time and love it every time again!

It took me ages to read because it just felt slow and complicated but as soon as I got into the rhythm of the writing styli finished it in one sitting. Definitely a philosophical story teaching a life lesson, would definitely recommend for people who are into classics or gory stories.

The love-hate relationship I have with Grenouille…

Peculiar concept, peculiar main character. His utter lack of definable ambition beyond sensory indulgence actually makes him quite fascinating and almost sympathetic, in the way most serial killers are, um, not. (Sorry, Hannibal.) Clips along very well, and is consistently riveting. It's bizarre in the extreme, and might not be everybody's cup of tea, but I loved it.

The best book I've ever had in assigned reading in school. It always felt the writing was kinda magical!
