R E V I E W: 🎩 Devour the Dark - Book 2 of Nikki St. Crowe’s Devourer series 🩸 (a spin-off of The Vicious Lost Boys)
Book 2 picks up with Roc, Hook, Wendy, and Asha already united, but things are far from okay. Roc is unraveling. He shifts in and out of a monstrous form, and it’s clear something deep and dangerous is breaking inside him. To save him, the group makes a desperate choice: return to Neverland and seek out the only person who might understand what’s happening to Roc — Vane. Even though Pan has banned them, they go anyway. Bringing Vane and Winny into the picture adds so much emotional complexity and tension, and I loved getting a POV from Asha too. 🌊 The history between Roc and Vane is full of shadows and secrets, and I loved every bit of it. There’s clearly something more going on, and the way their connection plays out had me turning pages like crazy. The emotional bond between Hook, Roc, and Vane deepens, and I really appreciated how much space the story gave that relationship to grow. I was also 100% cheering for Winny and Wendy to meet, they both deserved that. 🥹 And once again, the audiobook elevated everything. Vane’s voice actor is a fantastic addition, and the full cast made the story hit even harder. Highly recommend listening while reading. 🎧 There’s a little less spice than in Book 1, but the plot takes the lead here, and I didn’t mind one bit. I was completely invested in the mission to help Roc, and I felt every high and low along the way. In the end, I am a sucker for tragic love stories. 💔 3.5 ⭐ / 5 ⭐
