This one positively surprised me, especially with how easy it was to read (took me only two days that would have been one, if I started earlier) 😌 A haunting house mystery with a great queer friend group and cute love story ❤️ Cameron has always hated the spooky house next to theirs, especially after one incident when he was 12 and entered the house on a dare. Now, there are new people moving into "The Crimson House", the first in a long time. A dad and his son, Hugo, who Cameron instantly develops a crush on. Pretty soon, they both see the infamous White Lady, and the ghost hunt begins. There are a few creepy ghost shenanigans, but it's more mystery than horror, and the overall atmosphere was rather cozy because of the friend group. I loved them. I especially liked Abby, who is totally into ghost stuff and ready to explore the house asap (couldn't be me lol), and Chloe, who can sense supernatural things and has prophetic dreams 👀 The love story was super sweet without much drama. Sure, they had their own issues to work through, Cameron with his insecurities and body image issues, and Hugo with his commitment issues (since they move so often as house flippers), but getting together wasn't this big dramatic thing, which was a nice difference to many other novels. The mystery of the house was interesting, and I loved them basically playing detectives 🤭 Though how they were able to go back into this house (living there!) after all that spooky shit is beyond me. I would've never stepped a foot inside ever again 😂 Also, normally, it bothers me when in YA they never tell their parents when something weird is happening, but here they had a reason that made sense. Still reckless, but teenagers, I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 All in all, just a great book I can totally recommend.

This was SO FUCKING GOOD!! It was advertised with Heartstopper but make it creepy, and I was a bit sceptical at first about this advertisement and if my expectations could be met this way. But it really is spooky Heartstopper, while definitely not being a copycat. The theatre kids found family friends group has my heart and I wish for more books featuring these characters (especially the genderqueer character Taylor), maybe more Ghosthunting adventures? 🥹👉🏻👈🏻 The romance was sweet and while somehow YA (the MCs are 16, if I remember correctly), there is one open door scene, but this is really low spice. So much for the characters. Onto the haunting: This was so freaking creepy, I loved it. I'm not the biggest thriller/spookiness fan, and this was definitely near the knuckle for me personally (I needed to put the book away in the dark and not only once skimmed for the next jumpscare), but the whole vibe enhanced the book SO much. The story behind the haunted house was gorgeous and the whole suspense made me fly through the pages. This was a REALLY good start to the new year.
