Perfect RomCom for cozy afternoons
"Tell Me How You Really Feel" is a real feel-good novel, perfect for when you’re in the mood for a bit of drama and heartbreak with a happy ending. At the center of the story are Maeve and Finn, who have been best friends since college and now run a podcast together. After a falling out, they have to work together again professionally—and in the process, they’re forced to deal with their old, emotionally charged history. The narrative jumps between past and present, with both perspectives—Maeve’s and Finn’s—alternating throughout the book. The dynamic between Maeve and Finn thrives on witty, often humorous banter and a tangible emotional depth. The book is like a mix of friendship, love, and a whole lot of emotional chaos. Topics like anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and feelings of low self-worth are openly addressed and destigmatized. Maeve’s internal conflicts and her struggles to express herself are portrayed in a very relatable and authentic way. You can really feel how much Maeve is battling with herself, which makes her incredibly likable. Themes like equality and female empowerment are also touched upon. Despite the strong start, I felt the story became a bit flat towards the end. The ending was a bit too abrupt for me personally—I would have liked a bit more depth as the story concluded. Conclusion: A lovely book for in between, especially if you’re into friends-to-lovers stories and want a bit of heart-fluttering and drama. Perfect for a cozy afternoon with tea and a blanket!
