This one was a feast for my heart! All the Jude and Cardan moments we were given? The unfolding deep dive of Oaks personality and past? Soft moments with Maddoc? I loved it all from start to finish! Something I do have to say though is that Oak and Wren felt a little too hot and cold for me in this book. All of a sudden Oaks fascination with Wren has turned into deep and senseless devotion and there wasn't really an explanation for that except that "she gets him on a deeper level". Meanwhile Wren felt a little too easily manipulated by Bogdana after it has been established that she is powerful and cunning. But all in all I am extremely sad to leave the world of Elfhame once again and I am hoping that one day, we might all return back to it!

Loved it

It was certainly very entertaining and one hell of an emotional roller coaster. Wren and Oak's books are definitely a must if you're reading the elfhame novels. The only thing that I found a little less enjoyable than the rest (but still very enjoyable) was the ending, but I'm sure we'll get more from Holly soon (she needs to feed us eventually)

When is the next book coming out?😭

Okayy that was a wild ride- It was nice seeing things from Oaks perspective, his fears and such. And even tho most were just him being paranoid (cuz we all know Jude and Cardan would never think those things about him or hate him💀) it made sense why he would think like that. Oak never stops being down bad for Wren 20/10 idk why I love that but I do- LMAO Honestly the ending was kinda dissapointing..? Mostly because there was no kiss at the end😭 and maybe it was dissapointing for me because I despratly wanted to see more of them being happy and lovey dovey after ALL THAT Because IT IS a lot-

This book was all over the place. Literally. I think there was nowhere they didn't visit at some point or other during their adventure. This felt like a really long story because of it complexity but not in a way that made it exhausting to read. I really enjoyed Oak's perspective and that about half way in Jude and Cardan joined the mess. With this family you just never know who is plotting what exactly. Oak made an excellent point once, about how in a world full of schemers and omissions, the truth can be not only armor but also a weapon...

I LOVED IT! i am sorry, i will never be able to relate the bad reviews regarding the folk of the air series beacuse this was everything to me. i saw a lot of people saying they did not enjoy the second half as much, but omg it was verything to me. the whole wrap-up on oak's own personal issues and wren (just being wren would've more than sufficed but) aaah! her character development, i just am so happy. i get motherly feels when i think about her. ALSO jude and cardan YES! my dearest of dear favorite characters have made a proper appearance. i AM fulfilled and i AM content. proper review will probably might follow.

I liked the second part of the duology much better than the first, which I felt only really became captivating by the last few chapters. I loved returning to Elfhame and revisiting Cardan, Jude and several others of the original characters. I liked Wren and Oak as lead characters. However, I felt their storyline and chemistry did not compare to the original trilogy, which I loved enough to rate at 4 stars. Hence, in my personal opinion, this duology receives 3 stars. I very much enjoyed it, enough to finish it during one long bus ride, but I would not necessarily read it again ^^

This book was honestly so good! I mean, every Holly Black book is awesome in my opinion (at least those I’ve read) but this definitely met my standards. I have the hot keys edition and it said ‘betrayal’ on the back. And oh, let me tell you, there WAS betrayal. A LOT. It was awesome. Some communication could’ve probably solved a lot of it, but let’s be honest, that would’ve been boring. Oak is the man. I still like Cardan more (his cameos were everything) but Oak is great, too. And oh boy, did he have a peeta mellark moment there… iykyk. Wren was so powerful and I’m so happy at how she came out of the story. She was totally badass. I loved this story a lot. Will probably add it to my annual tcp reread. Definitely recommend!!

Wow

After The Stolen Heir I was incredibly excited to finally return to the world of Elfhame. And as usual, Holly Black did not disappoint. Her characters are wonderfully layered in a way I've rarely seen, they are flawed and feel very real despite all the magic. It's never quite possible to name a villain, and that is something that will always draw me back to her books. The way she describes things is absolutely beautiful and I don't think I will ever get enough of it. That being said, The Prisoner's Throne did not quite catch me as much as her other books did. I did very much enjoy returning to Elfhame, and Oak as a character is so very dear to me and I'm incredibly happy we got a book from his perspective. Despite that, I felt like this story was dragging on a little, in a way her other books don't usually. While I could feel myself getting invested in the characters, the same cannot be said of the plot. It did pick up the pace about halfway through, but that didn't really save it from the fact that I couldn't really get myself to care about what was happening. But even so, I still did enjoy this book a lot and I'm excited to see more from her.
