A really nice romance for in between. I liked Phoebe's humor and her obsession with true crime. Despite the past, her relationship with her brother was somehow close and loving. I loved Sam because he was just so normal. Finally not a morally questionable guy! However, I was hoping for a little more of the true crime theme with regards to its still unknown neighbor. I thought she would find more reasons why he should be a serial killer. All in all, a good read!

This could have been such a good book - but no it was boring and didn't had a plot or anything - if the love interest really was a serial killer or even a potential serial killer the whole book would have been so much better, and the Titel and cover would have made much more sense.

Phoebe Walsh is definitely a sucker for the genre of true crime. She even writes her dissertation on it. But when her father, she never really had a relationship to, dies, she goes back to Florida to get the house ready to sell. On her first night there’s a tall, barefoot guy coming up to her in the dark, who is apparently her neighbour Sam. Of course a serial killer ! I mean look at the weird times he leaves for “ work” and comes back home. But in conclusion he’s just a cute guy who just has eyes for Pheebs. All in all a really cute slow burn romance.

Ich habe definitiv mehr erwartet. Mehr von allem 😅 Es gibt halt einfach null Gründe für ihren Verdacht, dass er ein Serienmörder sein soll, außer ihre Besessenheit von True Crime. Sie wirkt daher grundlos paranoid zu Beginn, im Laufe der Geschichte verliert sich die ganze Thematik rund um Serienmörder etc. und wurde zur langatmigen 0815 'ich habe kein Herz und so viel Angst vor Liebe' Rom-Com. Leider erfährt man im ganzen Buch gar nicht, woher ihre Faszination für diese Thematik kommt. Es bleibt daher alles eher flach und fade. Nett für zwischendurch, wenns sein muss 😅 Alter der Protagonistin: 30

I loved this book! I loved how the two met and every bit how the relationship developed. „Love in the Time of Serial Killers“ is not what I expected. True Crime is more a side topic, but great for this story! It is a love story through and through...also the side characters , family and friends are well chosen. The pace of the story telling is perfect and also the reasons why Phoebe needs more time. This book is funny, spicy and many pop culture reference which I love!

The pulsing heartbeat of true crime, of all human stories when you got right down to it, was we all wanted and hoped and dreamed and loved, but we had no control over what happened in the end. I'm not exactly sure why I shelved this book but I was in the mood for something light. Yet the romance here was quite boring. There was no spice, and I didn't connect with any of the characters. The plot just wasn't there and the setting was so uninteresting. I think the title of the book is misleading, as I was hoping for the neighbor to be a serial killer. But alas, another tedious romance book with weird sex scenes.

An sich ist die Geschichte echt gut, aber ich finde, dass sie zu langweilig geschrieben ist. Vieles passiert immer wieder und leider muss ich sagen, dass ich Phoebe gar nicht mochte. Auch der Schluss kam meiner Meinung nach viel zu schnell. Generell zieht sich das Buch sehr in die Länge und es sind auch viele Aktionen dabei, die einfach wenig Sinn machen. Ich denke dass man die Geschichte viel spannender hätte machen können, mit beispielsweise mehr Charakteren.

The protagonist Phoebe is so relatable, I loved it. This was a perfectly fluffy romance for me and three stars is a big compliment from me because I barely read romance books…So the rating is a me problem! It’s definitely one of my favourite romance reads so far. I loved every character and the progression of the main relationship. It’s also the first book I read where the main character is plus size and I am so thankful and happy for that?! It’s unbelievable that it was my first read with that representation…we definitely need more of that. It was that she was seen as admirable and attractive as she should. True Crime is also something I know too much about, dot it was a perfect read for me…It could be possible that my rating goes up once I read more romance. :)

Ein absolut schöner Roman bei dem mir das ein oder andere Mal das Herz stehen geblieben ist. Die Charaktere waren allesamt absolut toll, aber am meisten hat mir Sam gefallen. Ich habe mit den Protagonisten mitgefühlt und das Buch konnte mich auf allen Ebenen abholen. ♥️ Trotzdem hat mir für die 5 Sterne ⭐️ etwas gefehlt. Wahrscheinlich hätte ich mir von Phoebe etwas mehr Emotionen gewünscht, aber das ist nur ein kleiner Kritikpunkt!

This was a romance novel very up my street! Nerdy protagonist, cute neighbour and an inevitable love story… I love characters who have a passion and start to ramble about it (especially to their counterpart) but at some point the true crime talk was a bit much for me and I would have loved to see a tiny bit more of the side characters (Alison!!). But overall a great book to sink into!
