An emotional and beautiful second chance romance anyone? It’s this one. Calista and Rylan are childhood soccer rivals turned lovers… turned exes. They are the love of each others lives. But sometimes love is not enough, right? When Rylan comes back into their small hometown for their best friends wedding, there is no way too avoid each other. Not when their are bridesmaid and best man. And instantly the temptation and emotions run hot. Old fights flare up again, but so do feelings that never went away. The story of those two was beautiful to read about. You are rooting for them to overcome their challenges and find a way to be back together. It’s angsty, lots of longing and great banter. All my second chance romances fans buckle up for a rollercoaster of emotions. You get an all access pass for this ride: family and friendship. The quirks of a small town. Right person, wrong time. Character development and healing of old wounds. Growing up and overcoming challenges together. And I absolutely love how the flashback scenes were incorporated into the flow of the story. I sometimes struggle with the past-present split in books, because they sometimes tear you out of the moment and the continuity of the plot. But in this book you experience their past through flashbacks before their eyes so they always make sense for the scene and they go with the flow of the situation. A big recommendation! Real characters with a beautiful and heartbreaking story. Amazing writing. You just have a great time reading it! I also, shame on me, did not know that it was an author duo? lol. Props to them, it’s a good sign after all, if I didn’t notice it in the writing. I haven’t read any other books in this series or generally anything by the authors, but will def check some out! I’ve grown fond of the wild small town! 4.5
