Reread; 1. Read 2022 (5/5 Sterne), jetzt 4/5 The Assassin’s Blade ist eine spannende Ergänzung zur Throne of Glass-Reihe und bietet wertvolle Einblicke in Celaenas Vergangenheit. Besonders gelungen ist, wie das Buch bereits bekannte Charaktere in neuem Licht zeigt und zudem einige Sprichwörter und Motive einführt, die in den späteren Bänden wieder aufgegriffen werden – ein echter Mehrwert für Fans der Reihe. Der Aufbau als Sammlung von fünf Kurzgeschichten war für mich jedoch weniger überzeugend. Zwar sind die einzelnen Erzählungen inhaltlich stark, aber eine durchgehende Handlung hätte die emotionale Tiefe und Entwicklung der Figuren noch intensiver wirken lassen. Das ist allerdings Geschmackssache und dürfte andere Leser*innen weniger stören. Insgesamt ein lesenswerter Band, der das Throne of Glass-Universum auf sinnvolle Weise erweitert.

Rating: 3.5 I had a couple of hiccups with this book. While it was intriguing to explore Celaena’s backstory, there were moments that made me want to put the book down. Some parts were painful to get through, but as always, Sarah’s writing has a way of keeping me hooked. Despite the rough patches, her storytelling drew me in, making it hard to DNF. I kept turning the pages, eager to find out what would happen next.

Ich habe die Reihe gerade erneut gestartet, und weiß direkt wieder, warum ich Sarah J Maas so liebe. Diese Reihe ist ein Meisterwerk. Das ganze zu re-readen und das ganze Forshadowing, die Einführung so vieler toller Charaktere und die ganzen versteckten Details zu erleben macht riesig Spaß. Auch wenn ich schon wusste was auf mich zukommt, hat es manche Dinge nicht einfacher und weniger schmerzhaft gemacht, was ein Zeichen für den fantastischen Schreibstil ist. Ich bin einfach nur happy und bereit erneut sehr tief in der Reihe und dem Fandom zu versinken!

I thought it was very sweet. Relatively short story, but with important content. ! Spoiler ! Celaena taught Yrene Towers self-defence and she defended her and she gave her money to get out of that shithole. And that just shows me even more how much I love her. I have a feeling that Yrene will be in one of the later books and I hope she achieves what she wants to do.

I feel like for the best assassin in Adarlan she should be like… less stupid? The whole book is just a following on every mistake she made, falling for traps that have big red warning signs above them, trusting Arobynn like 4 times too often and generally being a little naive. I am honestly a little disappointed since I would have liked to see how she became so ruthless and brilliant and not seeing her fail most of the time. But it was nice to have a little more backstory to the little anecdotes you get in TOG.

This was a solid one. Not good, but also not bad. While the concept of looking deeper into Aelins backstory caught my attention pretty early on, the execution was a little underwhelming. I expected an in-depth look at her past, the trials and tribulations that made her become an assassin and inevitably become blinded and tricked by her late master Arobynn. But this book was just a compilation of different missions she tackled as her alter ego Celaena, when she already thought of herself as the baddest of all Assassins and after the third novella that just became tiring. I think out of all the compiled stories, I liked the one with Ansel the most since that was the first time Celaena truly got humbled. Oh, and what truly annoyed me was the constant use of the title "Adarlans Assassin" as a means to say, "Oh, Celaena is a badass that can't be defeated.". It was just overused and therefore lost its power. All in all, I just realised at some point that there's nothing too exciting about this collection of novellas, and you can skip this one unless you're a die-hard Throne Of Glass fan.

“The Assassin's Blade” is a collection of five interconnected novellas that tell the prequel to Celaena Sardothien. The stories take place before the events of “Throne of Glass”. The collection of novellas gives various insights into Celaena's character, her past and her relationships. Especially her relationship with Sam, but also her complicated relationship with Arobynn. I couldn't put “the Assassin's Blade” down. There were no long stretches, the book had a good pace. The characters were all very convincing and exciting to read. The last novella broke me completely and I could cry forever. Central themes: - Betrayal and trust - Freedom and self-determination - Loss and pain - Growing up and making your own decisions Content: [⚠️ Spoiler] Celaena and Sam Cortland are sent to Skull's Bay by Arobynn Hamel to make a deal with the Pirate King Rolfe. When Celaena learns that the deal involves the sale of slaves, she and Sam plan to free the slaves, which gets them into serious trouble with Arobynn. On her way to begin her "punishment" that Arobynn has imposed on her, Celaena meets Yrene Towers, an aspiring healer, in a small harbor town. She helps Yrene find the courage to start a new life by offering her some training and money to fund a trip to Antica. Celaena is sent to the Silent Assassins in the Red Desert as a punishment to hone her skills. During her stay, she learns discipline and patience. But she also discovers betrayal within the community and must prove that she has earned the trust of her new master. Upon her return to Rifthold, Arobynn offers Celaena a mission that seems noble. However, Celaena has no idea that Arobynn is manipulating her again, which will have serious consequences for her and Sam. Celaena and Sam plan to leave Arobynn and start a new life in another city. They take on one last risky job to earn enough money for their escape. But the plan goes tragically wrong and Celaena loses everything she holds dear. In the end, she is betrayed, captured and sent to the salt mines of Endovier.

Throne of Glass is now officially my favourite series. I'm in love and completely destroyed but I think in a good way, if that's even possible. I cried so bad in the last 200 pages. I mean, it's 2:20am right now and I'm wide awake. I actually had a section to stop just before midnight and then I kept reading and couldn't stop. ! Spoiler ! I already knew what was going to happen and yet it completely destroyed me. I cried so much in between that I had to stop reading to catch my breath and get my head round it. Sam and Celaena just had a month and a half together and it was all because of Arobyn Hamel the piece of shit He’s a vile, manipulative piece of rot. Even worms would spit him out. He‘s nothing but a coward in a king’s cloak, playing god with lives he’ll never deserve to command. Oh and Farran … Even death would spit you out—too filthy for the grave to stomach. You’re nothing but a shadow’s shadow—forgotten, pitiful, and crawling after power that was never yours. I hope Arobyn and Farran both die in a long, painful, gruesome way at the hands of Celaena (although I think Farran is already dead in Throne of Glass) ! Spoiler ! ( for one of the parts in ToG after Heir of Fire I‘m not quite sure which one, Ispoiled myself too) If Rowan is Aelin's mate then Sam is Celaena's PS I've just realised that my collage already has spoilers too, sorry

! Spoiler ! Because I read Assasin's Blade after Throne of Glass, I know that Sam is tortured to death. And that's really fucked up because he's my favourite character and nobody should die like that. I mean, I didn‘t even Read that far yet to know that he is going to die but ever since he confessed his love to Celaena I've been crying because it rips my heart out for me and it feels like someone is stepping on it Especially because I haven't even read to that point. And I don't really want that either. I hope they have some time together in the final story of Assassin’s Blade before he dies and Celaena comes to Endovier! ! Spoilers ! (for one of the later ToG parts I'm not sure which one. It spoiled me too but I thought that was pretty inaccurate) If Rowan is Aelin's mate, then Sam is Celaena's

I think Sam is a much better love interest than Dorian or Chaol. Only 4.5 stars because it was too short. I would have much rather read more. I didn't read The Assassin's Blade in one go, but spent a long time researching which order to read Throne of Glass in. I've now decided in favour of the variant where you read the first part of The Assassin's Blade after the first part, the second part of The Assassin's Blade after the second part and so on as a kind of prologue before each book And because I haven't read it all at once, I thought I'd just write a post about each individual book. So I think Celaena is amazing here too, she's such a strong character and I really recommend everyone in the world to read this series of books. It's so worth it. ! Spoiler! I'm not entirely sure Rolfe didn't break the contracts when Celaena was in Endovier. I hope not, but I think he did. I hope he comes back in Throne of Glass and the two meet again.

Ich habe mich entschieden die Bücher in der Reihenfolge zu beginnen in der man „The Assasins Blade“ als erstes liest. Für mich war die Umstellung von der ersten Person (Acotar Reihe) in die dritte Person die SJM hier verwendet hat schwer, aber das Buch an sich war gut geschrieben und hatte zum Ende hin mehr interessanten Plot als in den ersten Kapiteln. Die Kurzgeschichten die hier vereint wurden zu einem Buch ergeben eine tolle Vorgeschichte für die Reihe. (*Achtung möglicher Spoiler) Der Betrug durch Arobynn und Sams Tod gleich im ersten Buch lassen allerdings viele Fragen zum kommenden Plot offen. Ich bin gespannt wie es weitergeht und was Celaena jetzt an Charakterdevelopment bekommt.

Ich bin prinzipiell nicht so der Novellen-Fan und habe The Assassins Blade nur zur Vollständigkeit gelesen. Prinzipiell waren es ganz nette Kurzgeschichten und ich fand es gut, dass sie trotzdem alle hintereinander mit nicht allzu großem Abstand spielen, allerdings habe ich mir bei jeder von ihnen gedacht, dass mir kein Inhalt und auch keine Emotionalität gefehlt hätte, wenn die Story als kurze Rückblicke in die Hauptstory mit eingearbeitet worden wäre. Ich war froh, dass ich die Novelle nicht als erstes, sondern erst nach Teil 2 der Reihe gelesen habe und freue mich jetzt sehr auf Teil 3.

Ich habe den Band zwischen Band 2 und 3 von Throne of Glass gelesen, also noch vor Heir of Fire und muss sagen, so war es genau richtig! Ich wusste schon was passieren wird, trotzdem hat es nochmal geholfen, den Charakter von Celeana zu vertiefen, bevor es jetzt richtig losgeht. Wer noch nicht mit Throne of Glass angefangen hat, sollte das 2025 unbedingt nachholen!

Diese kleinen Geschichten über die Erlebnisse, die in ToG nur angeschnitten werden fand ich wirklich schön. Es war sehr gut geschrieben und die Geschichten waren nicht zu lang ausgeführt. Sie hatten genau die richtige Länge. Ich habe das Buch als letztes gelesen, also nach Empire of Storms und das war für mich auch die richtige Entscheidung. Dadurch entkam ich dem Loch, das nach so einer Buchreihe irgendwie immer da ist und ich kannte alle Charaktere, die in The Assasins Blade erwähnt werden. Ich kann mir trotzdem vorstellen, dass es auch nach Heir of Fire gut gelesen werden kann. Dann muss man sich aber auf (noch) unbekannte Charaktere einstellen. Aber da Heir of Fire ja das Buch ist, wo sie sich mit ihrer Vergangenheit auseinandersetzt, pass The Assasins Blade auch danach sehr gut.

Wow, was war das für eine Reise! Ich habe das Buch bzw. die 5 Novellen nach den ersten 3 Büchern der TOG-Reihe gelesen. Trotz vieler unterschiedlicher Vorschläge im Internet denke ich, dass es eine grundsätzlich perfekte Reihenfolge nicht gibt, doch war dies eine gute Stelle, um Calaenas Vorgeschichte besser zu verstehen und bisherige Entscheidungen anders nachzuvollziehen. Eigentlich dachte ich, dass ich es eher durchzulesen versuche, weil es einfach zur Reihe gehört und ich es trotz geringer erwarteter Spannung nicht einfach weglassen wollte, aber wie ich mich da getäuscht habe! Das Buch war voller Abenteuer, Spannung und Emotionen und hat mich durchweg gefesselt! Die einzelnen Novellen haben eine gute Länge und sind nachvollziehbar miteinander verknüpft, sodass sich im Verlauf des Bandes eine gute Gesamtgeschichte ergibt. Besonders gut gefielen mir dabei auch die Reisen Calaenas in neue Gebiete des Kontinents, die man so kennenlernen konnte und natürlich ...Sam. Auch wenn man, sollte man vorher bereits ToG gelesen haben, weiß, wie das Buch schließlich enden wird, verlor die Handlung zu keiner Zeit an Spannung und traf mich am Ende doch so sehr, als hätte ich es nicht kommen sehen. Jetzt brauche ich erst einmal ein bisschen, um das zu verdauen und dann geht es weiter mit Queen of Shadows :)

Trotz des gottlosesten Spoilers (IYKYK) auf Tiktok konnte das Buch mich doch an einigen Stellen noch überraschen. Als Auftakt der Reihe hat es mir sehr gut gefallen und ich bin gespannt, wie es weitergeht. 😊 P.s. Wie kommt man darauf, einen „Pirate Lord“ Rolfe zu nennen? Ich musste bei dem Namen die ganze Zeit an Rolf Schneider von GNTM denken. 😂

Hui was tat dieses Buch am Ende weh 😢 Wie alle Bücher von Sarah J Maas, hätten ein paar Seiten weniger nicht geschadet. Ich weiß, dass das einfach ihr Schreibstil ist und ich mag ihre Bücher auch so gerne, aber irgendwie zieht sich jeder Band anfangs immer total. Die letzten 100 Seiten wird immer alles mehr als nur zerlegt…würde mir wünschen, dass man da aber nicht immer so lange drauf warten müsste🥹 deswegen „nur“ 4 Sterne ⭐️ 🫶🏽

Das war alles und viel mehr & ja es hatte ein paar langsame Stellen aber Gott ixh habe es geliebt ! Habe Celaena geliebt & Sam❤️ & ja man weiß was passiert aber argh dieses Buch bringt so viel mehr zu Celaena und hat mein Herz gebrochen & ich bin kurz davor die Reihe zu rereaden weil ich alle Charaktere jetzt schon wieder so vermisse ... Argh ich hatte vergessen wie sehr ich diese Welt und diese Bücher (für mich alle tausendmal besser als. A court of thorns and roses!!) liebe

Yes. This book is good. And reading it first I think is a good start into this series. However:It was a slow start. My main points of criticism that I want to mention lay in the characters. We get it. She is spoiled and good at what she does. It is not the typical MC for Maas I think. But unfortunately it was a bit hard for me to believe the love story of her and Sam. He was TOO sweet and too little character. And the fact that they are both. INCREDIBLY young made it even harder. Typically for Sarah J. Maas the last 100 pages had me on the edge of the seat. Thank god for that. Although many things very quite predictable. Sadly.

After reading Kingdom of Ash, this book felt like a revelation to me. I loved reading and seeing how it all began, how Celaena met all of her later allies and friends and I love how she fell in love with Sam Cortland. I am wishing that I read the book way earlier, but reading with the knowledge I have from the whole series was even better for me personally.

I am so happy to be back in this world! In the beginning, I really wasn't sure if I still enjoyed Sarah J. Maas's books, but I think it was just that I didn't love the first few stories but by the end, I was SO back into the story. Ratings for each novella: The Assassin and the Pirate Lord: 3/5 The Assassin and the Healer: 3/5 The Assassin and the Desert: 3.5/5 The Assassin and the Underworld: 5/5 The Assassin and the Empire: 5/5 (my favorite one) I definitely want to continue with this series very soon although I probably will have to reread the first 2 books.

Die 4 Geschichten sind im Grunde nur eine, da sie auch komplett aufeinander aufbauen und chronologisch ablaufen. Man lernt Celeana besser kennen als in den ersten beiden Bänden Von ToG und kriegt einen Einblick in ihre Person und ihr Leben. So richtig gerecht wird die Geschichte und erzählweise der betonten GROẞARTIGKEIT von ihr nicht, aber es ist spannend und der Plot fesselt. Ich wünschte fast es ginge jetzt hier weiter und die Personen bleiben 😄 Es sollte jedoch nicht als Prequel sondern als Band 3 gelesen werden, da sonst Plottwists und mögliche Spoiler/Theorien Sachen aus 1-2 ToG vorwegnehmen können.

I don't want to talk about my feelings because I'll need time to process this. My heart has been ripped out and torn to shreds. I just can't. Someone dig me a grave. I am though very curious about the rest of the series. Hoping for a light at the end of a tunnel here. Sarah J. Maas I love you, but I hate you.

Respectfully, I loved this book but it caused me trauma grief and tears. So I prefer never talking about it again otherwise I’ll cry again, thanks very much Sarah j. Maas… No but truthfully I am happy I read it first like people recommended me. I am happy to read throne of glass next
