My expectations were low to begin with, but I still hoped for more than a sketchy background story. The personalities of our MCs are stereotyped. Gabe is the naked, hot,bad guy with a difficult past, on a shiny new bike, with a vocabulary from the 50ties to top it off. Riley is the somewhat social outcast (by choice?), but still smoking hot with that long blond hair and impressive bust. And for the mandatory female bashing we have the all-around perfect cheerleader (always wearing her cheerleader outfit!) It really bugs me to see female writers humiliating their female characters. The hell is wrong with you all. Work on your bruised ego and complexes in some therapy. Don't put this crap into kids heads that there is a standardized way "to be". Disgusting. Apart from that it's a cute story aimed at 12+. It' barely a YA-book with it being about first dates, first love, kisses and the like. Forget the story about angels kidnapping humans, crazy pastors etc. it's just a shaky frame for the emotional theater of teenagers. Luckily the writing is okay-ish and made it easy to flick through.
