I would have preferred the stories to be novels, as they need more emotional and scientifical flesh on their bones, but they were interesting to read. Though the 'being won't recognise anyone other than itself worthy of living' trope gets a little stale by now. (And a little kafka-esk in being a depressing, but possible situation.)
