Habe nichts anderes als ein 5-Sterne-Buch von H.D. Carlton erwartet! Ich habe nicht gedacht, dass mich SOWAS erwartet, nach den anderen Büchern, die ich von der Autorin gelesen habe, aber holy moly. Super wichtiges Thema, das meiner Meinung nach sehr gut dargestellt wurde. Mir haben die Kapitel aus Rivers & Makos Sicht echt gut gefallen & beide Erzählstränge waren wirklich spannend. Bei den Büchern der Autorin finde ich immer toll, dass die Handlung nie in den Hintergrund gerät & durchgehend viel passiert. Kann ich nur empfehlen 🙈

Heftig. 🥹 Super dark und intensiv! Hier geht es um eine Protagonistin, die von ihrem Freund misshandelt wird… sie ist gefangen in dieser Beziehung und es zerreißt einen förmlich. Der Love Interest in diesem Buch ist ein Detektiv und eine absolute Green Flag. Auf jeden Fall die greenste Greenflag, den H.D. Carlton bisher geschrieben hat. Das Buch hat mich absolut zerrissenen und mich sprachlos gemacht. Zwischen durch hat es sich etwas gezogen - jedoch habe ich das Buch insgesamt gerne gelesen, auch wenn es echt harter Tobak ist. Also unbedingt TW vorher lesen! Bisher hat mich die Autorin mit ihren Büchern noch nie enttäuscht, ich liebe einfach, wie sie ihre Geschichten schreibt. Definitiv eine Leseempfehlung!

The author did an amazing job in writing about all the struggles being in an abusive relationship. Because it's not as simple as leaving your partner when the first abuse starts and Ryan was really great in manipulating River and Alison . The characters and how they react are well written! I feel like the author put a lot of thought in her books and makes her Storys really realistic.. How many women are being raped, manipulated or have to prostitute themselve to survive...I can only imagine..:( I will definitely read more from this author.

Erinnert mich stark an Hunting Adeline (2.er Band der Adeline Bücher von H.D. Carlton). Ist jedenfalls genauso schwer zu ertragen. Es war gut.. aber höllisch schockierend. Zu wissen, dass manche Frauen sowas jeden Tag genau jetzt erleben, kann einem Angst machen. Man sollte bitte auf jedenfall die Trigger Warnings lesen, bevor man sich dieses Buch holt. Ist wirklich nichts für schwache Nerven. Es ist extrem gut geschrieben und hat mich einfach tierisch in seinen Bann gezogen. Ich weiß nicht was ich dem Buch geben soll. Ich denke 4,25 Sterne sind angemessen.

If you wanna meet the most hateable characters, go read this book (no- I’m not talking about the MFC or the MMC) Personally, I think this is HD Carlton’s BEST book! I got so emotionally attached to River, I can’t find the right words to describe how proud I am for that girl. It really made me think a lot about the story line and if you read the Trigger Warnings and you are still okay with what will happen in the book, go read it. A big recommendation for sure!
