I read this book because my mother is becoming more frail and lives in Germany, where I am not familiar with the bureaucracy associated with death and probate. This book is published by a consumer organisation in her state and goes through the required steps in order. Having read it, I feel more daunted than before by how complicated it all is, but I do feel more prepared in practical terms. I would have liked more detail on some of the topics, however, particularly calculating rental deadlines and dealing with tax matters.
