3.5 Stars. This book is really a great piece of literature. I only didn't give it 4 stars, because it took me so long to read. Towards the end it was easier but first I had to fight to get through. Not because the writing is bad or the story, it is just something you need to get used to. The book plays in Warsaw, begin of second world war. Poland just lost its war against Germany after only 2 weeks. Main character Kostja fought against the Germans but his biggest fight is against himself. Not knowing who he is and what's the purpose of his life, he's always running away from his responsiblities, floating between sex and drugs. I really liked the style, it reminded me a bit of "the book thief", just more confused and darker.
