This was intriguing and kind of scary, mostly not because of things that happened but it because of the atmosphete, the things the reader is told and the things one assumes. There is a hint of something supernatural but for a long time, nothing is certain. The influence of Cordova's dark movies on the story and its characters was what made me interested in the book and didn't disappoint me. Ashley is such a faszinating personality, so I really enjoyed discovering pieces of her life. For most of the story she is more a mythos than a person. The investigator trio we follow consisted of flawed characters that were likable because of the way they interacted with each other. They became really close, so the forced drama near the end was especially painful. Despite the dark subject matter, these people made parts of the book really cosy for me. I enjoyed the book a lot, there were only a few little things I didn't care for too much. Big recommendation.
