Dies ist das erste Buch von David Mitchell, das mich enttäuscht hat. Und das auf ganzer Linie. Vielleicht bin ich einfach nicht der Typ für diese Coming Of Age-Geschichten, aber für mich geschah einfach immer wieder dasselbe. Es gab ein paar kleine Szenen, die ich interessant fand (jene über den Falklandkrieg z.B.), aber diese waren im Bezug auf den Gesamtumfang des Buches so minim, dass es kaum zählt. Die ersten paar Kapitel las ich noch gerne, bis sich dann eben dieses erwähnte Gefühl des Repetitiven einstellte. Ab diesem Moment langweilte ich mich nur noch. Zwecks diversen Challenges zog ich die Lektüre durch, wodurch ich jedoch nur Bestätigung fand, dass sich der Inhalt für mich nicht zum Besseren wandte. Ich hoffe sehr, dass mein nächstes Buch von David Mitchell wieder ein besseres sein wird. Denn noch gebe ich Mitchell nicht auf. Keinesfalls!
