A very accessible book that, while it's main goal is to entertain, never forgets to spread knowledge that manages to feel applicable. Sure, no one will actually ever use it as a guide for time traveling, but apart from language knowledge and practical skills, you're tricked into thinking you could cope with the info from this book. It's written in a lighthearted, slightly humorous way and I liked how it was structured. It goes from broad discriptions of the world around you to individual aspects of every day life. I don't know how I feel about how much it used The Canterbury Tales to demonstrate things. It makes concepts easy to comprehend but it almost feels like a main source the way it is used. For a regular person new to the 14th century it's pretty much ideal in the way it conveys knowledge. For me, it delved a few pages to deep into some things I didn't care too much about, but in general it's an exceptionally fast read.
