Das Buch und die Geschichte gefielen mir sehr. Es war leicht zu lesen und spannend geschrieben. Allerdings kam mir das Ende dann doch zu abrupt und leider ist das Ende sehr offen. Hier müsste definitiv Band 2 her, was es, laut meinen Recherchen nicht gibt. Somit gab es auch einen kleinen Sternenabzug in meiner Bewertung, da mir hier das "wirkliche" Ende fehlt und der Leser im Dunklen bleibt

All in all, I really liked this book. The fantasy world in which the story takes place is very detailed, interesting but it's also easily understandable. The characters are introduced in different chapters and the connections between them get gradually more complicated which makes the story captivating and but not too complicated to understand. Furthermore, the characters are very elaborately drawn and the power games between daimons and magi are very captivating. As the story is told from different perspectives, one gets to see how certain characters find out about and react to things the reader already knows about from other perspectives. Personally, I had a problem with Mallory playing a rather passive role in what happened until now but the ending suggests that this will change in the next book and I hope to see her character develop and her taking a more active part in what's happening, as well as finding out about what all the other characters already know about. To conclude, it's a very interesting story, set in an intricate world with complicated and captivating relations between the characters, with Mallory still having to develop in the future.
