This was very straightforward for a change. Just the crime, the evidence and the solution, no unnecessary extras. As simple and as good as that: A clever crime story with a smart ending. Thumbs up!
Schwer aus den Händen zu legen!
Man kennt den Titel und die Autorin. Dennoch hab ich erst jetzt, durch Zufall, das Buch gelesen. Es war so spannend und fesselnd geschrieben, sodass es schwer war es nicht in einem durch zu lesen 🤩 werde nun definitiv noch weiter Abenteuer von Hercule Poirot lesen.
An amazing book, i enjoyed reading, i plan on watching the movie an comparing them, i recommend this fantastic classic murder mystery

Auch wenn man den Film schon kannte und leider nicht überrascht wurde, ist es trotzdem wieder ein toller Sonntagsroman. Kurz und präzise geschrieben. Der Mix aus Englisch und Französisch hat mir das Lesen etwas schwer gemacht, aber das ist auch der einzige Minuspunkt.
Das war mein erstes Agatha Christie Buch und es hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Ich mochte den Aufbau des Buchs, der zum Miträtseln anregt. Irgendwann kam mir dann eine Theorie für das Ende, das letztendlich auch zutraf. Nichtsdestotrotz war es spannend bis zur letzten Seite. Einem halben Punkt ziehe ich aber für das Ende ab, da ich mit der einen Entscheidung wenig zufrieden bin.
I love it. Dan Steven's voice is so wonderfully changeable. You think you listen to different people reading the novel to you. It's also one of my favourite Poirot mysteries. The solution is so unlikely that the explanation seems fantastical and impossible but in the end everything makes sense and in great Poirot fashion he uses his little grey cells to solve the case. As on of Poirot's colleagues always says: Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. It's also very unagitated but I like it. Poirot doesn't need action to capture my interest and keep me on my toes.

Es war schön, so einen Krimi Klassiker auch mal selbst gelesen zu haben, auch wenn man sich natürlich erstmal an den Schreibstil gewöhnen muss
An absolute classic... And I hate to admit my sensation seeking mind is not made for the old fashioned way of crime. I don't want to say that I got bored but the layout of the story is imo lacking an overall arc of suspense. Nevertheless, the revelation gives away why Christie is dubbed the queen of crime.
I watched the 2017 movie before I read this book so I obviously already knew who committed the crime. So that’s probably the reason why I was bored and why the murderer seemed obvious. The book just seemed quite repetitive during the entire second part (the interviews). I truly appreciate Christie’s ability to tell a smart narrative but this is one of the rare cases in which I prefer the movie version.

Nicht so cozy wie erwartet aber dennoch ein spannender Fall.
My first Agatha Christie book and it was a lot of fun to read. Looking forward to reading more of her work.
This is righteously so one of Christie's most famous novels. I very much enjoyed it and November was the perfect month to read it.
Der wohl BESTE Krimi von Agatha Christie. So spannend, toll geschriebene Charaktere, ich habe mich wie bei einem Krimidinner gefühlt. Ganz große Klasse. Und dieses wunderbare Cover!

This was my first Agatha Christie novel, but definitely not my last one. The writing style is just so unique and it fits the time period so well. The mix between the English and French language just worked so perfectly well with the setting. The whole setting of the story on a train was perfect as well! The book was completely different than from what I expected it to be but in a positive way. I am really intrigued and can't wait to dive into more adventures with Poirot. (Who by the way, really grew onto me!)
Murder on the Orient Express ist wohl das bekannteste Buch von Agatha Christie oder zumindest das worüber ich schon am meisten gehört hatte und ich hatte somit sehr hohe Erwartungen an die Geschichte. Am Anfang viel es mir ein bisschen schwer in die Geschichte hinein zu finden, doch sobald der Mord geschieht war ich gefesselt und versuchte herauszufinden wer wohl dahinter steckt. Eigentlich besteht die Geschichte zu grossen Teilen daraus, dass Poirot die anderen Passagiere befragt. Dadurch war auch die Spannung nicht super hoch, doch da immer wieder neue Hinweise ans Licht kommen wird es auch nie langweilig und man bleibt ständig am mit rätseln wer wohl der Täter oder die Täterin ist. Ganz verstehen weshalb dieses Buch so bekannt ist konnte ich jedoch erst ganz zum Ende der Geschichte, denn die ganze Auflösung ist einfach unglaublich toll gemacht.

A typical whodunnit story, it seems to be written to be a play than a novel. An easy read that took me back to childhood when I used to love solving such puzzles.
In Murder on the Orient Express Mrs. Christie continues to wear her philosopher hat as she posits yet another question about the deliverance of justice wrapped in a very juicy murder mystery. Like most of her work, this is an absolute page-turner with well defined characters, a very tight story and is just unputdownable. A true masterclass in fiction. Hercule Poirot is my favorite character of all time. He has the perfect balance of poise, posh, charisma and intelligence I just gravitate to. Agatha's Poirot stories bring so much comfort and nostalgia to me. Reading them feels like a hug plus milk and cookies. Just fabulous, fantastic, all that! I can only imagine David Suchet of course while reading the books. This novel is a must read for everybody.
