Poppy and Alex, the things I would do for you. I have no idea why this is so low on some people ranking, regarding EmHen's work. I love it. (but then again I do love all to some extend) Poppy and Alex work great together and I am rooting for Poppy from the start to get their friendship back together. However, I will say that the time jumps do bother me once the halfway point is reached. I think it is okay to show how it's used to be, but dragging it out that much is not MY thing, not saying it doesn't work better for others and I liked them way more than in "Happy Place"

Der Liebesroman "Kein Sommer ohne dich" von Emily Henry ist eine romantische Komödie und erzählt Geschichte von Alex und Poppy. Die beiden lernen sich eines Tages kennen und beschließen irgendwann, zusammen eine Urlaubsreise zu unternehmen. Aus dem einen Jahr werden zwölf, in welchen sie jedes Mal im Sommer zusammen verreisen. Es sind die einzigen Zeitpunkte im Jahr, in denen sie sich persönlich sehen können. Eines Jahres fällt während einer der Urlaubsreisen etwas vor, was dazu führt, dass die beiden für zwei Jahre den Kontakt zueinander abbrechen, bis Poppy eines Sommers beschließt, Alex zu bitten, eine letzte Urlaubsreise mit ihr zu unternehmen, um ihre Freundschaft zu retten. Der Roman zeigt abwechselnd die unternommenen Urlaube in der Vergangenheit und die jetzige Situation während des Urlaubs in der Gegenwart, was mir persönlich sehr gut gefallen hat. Es wird vom ersten gemeinsamen Aufeinandertreffen berichtet und geht chronologisch in der Zeitleiste weiter, bis man am Ende schließlich erfährt, was während des letzten berüchtigten Urlaubs eigentlich geschehen ist. Manchmal hatte ich allerdings das Gefühl, das bestimmte Stellen, besonders die, die in der Vergangenheit spielten, ein bisschen zu langgezogen und dadurch langweilig wirkten. Der Rest des Romans hat mir aber extrem gut gefallen! Ich hab das Buch im Urlaub gelesen und konnte es garnicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Ich fand die Charaktere sehr sympathisch. Poppys offene und lustige Art habe ich geliebt und auch Alex habe ich mit seiner ruhigen, aber sehr aufmerksamen Art sofort ins Herz geschlossen. Außerdem ist er super süß und generell einfach ein toller Typ! Die beiden haben eine richtig gute Chemie zusammen und man hat richtig gemerkt, wie gut sie sich verstehen und zueinander passen. Außerdem ist ihre Freundschaft echt wünschenswert. Der Schreibstil von Emily Henry hat mir auch sehr gut gefallen und ich hatte das Gefühl, nur so durch die Seiten zu fliegen. Außerdem ist der Schreibstil sehr humorvoll, was ich sehr liebe. Ich hab sooo oft merkwürdige Blicke von den anderen Menschen am Strand bekommen, weil ich plötzlich laut loslachen musste

Welllllll, I thought it was my mindset and expectations the last time I read it, but now I know that the book just doesn't do it for me. I loved "Book Lovers", so I thought my taste had changed but nope, I just don't enjoy the way this book is set up. I really enjoyed the middle part, like from summer eight or seven, until Croatia and then it went downhill again for me. This book is by no means bad, the build up just wasn't as climactic as everyone hyped it up to be. I enjoyed 150 pages of this, the rest is meh. And I haaaaate the monologue "I practiced this and I NEED to get this out" love confession. So, that's that. Liked it a little more this time than the first time tho.

Great story for sunny days outside and just walking around town or the beach and listening to the book ☀️🌊 I liked how to story was structured towards the climax but it wasn't something i was really invested to. Also i felt like the author used a myriad of comparisons? Sometimes they kinda threw me off All in all, a nice little change of scenery when reading something heavier at the same time :>

I really liked this one! I was so happy I finally got to read it, and after the prologue, I did not touch it for like a month. Because, of course, I was reading something else. But then I got back to it and it took some time to immerse myself again. But after that, I kept asking myself why I didn't pick it up sooner. It was so heartwarming! And gosh, Alex <3 Do I have to say more? I really liked the story and the way the flashbacks were told, even though I had some understanding problems with it in the beginning. But this is the start of me reading more Emily Henry books in the future cuz I'm hooked. She did it.

Honestly, Emily Henry can do no wrong in my opinion, simple as that. This was another beautiful book, with great characters. Also, I'm just a sucker for "two idiots don't realize they're both in love with each other" stories. Reading about Poppy & Alex' friendship, and then them realizing how deep their feelings really were had me giggling and kicking my feet.

People We Meet on Vacation is a sweet and easy read that I even found a little melancholic sometimes. The relationship between Poppy and Alex is complicated and of course the reader knows what they feel so it is frustrating to see how clumsy they are with each other at times. I like how they realize they need to fix their own problems first before committing to a relationship instead of expecting the partner to be the solution to every problem and the source of happiness. That is something I don't see in romantic stories very often.

I didn't get the conflict as well as in the other books of Emily Henty. Maybe because it's not "my" conflict, maybe because it was not as well executed, I am not sure. But the end and the readers guide made it all worth it and I fell in love with Poppy and Alex just as I fell in love with all the other characters Emily Henry brought to life. Tropes: friends to lovers, second chance, grumpy / sunshine

Als ich die TikToks zu dem Filmset in New Orleans gesehen habe, war klar :”Das wird mein nächstes Emily Henry Buch” und unser Griechenland Urlaub war die perfekte Zeit dafür. Insgesamt war die Geschichte für mich ganz nett für zwischendurch. Poppy war eine absolut coole und witzige Protagonistin. Die verschiedenen Urlaubsziele der letzten Jahre waren auch interessant zu lesen. Aber ich freue mich dermaßen auf den Film dazu vor allem nach DIESEM Kommentar von Emily Henry am Ende des Buches und wie sie es mit “Harry&Sally” (einer meiner absoluten Lieblingsfilme!) vergleicht ♥️

I love-love-loved this book!🧡 Wie man an meinen ganzen Post-It's sehen kann, war das Buch geprägt von tollen Zitaten, was ich ja absolut liebe. Aber nicht nur das: Die beiden Protagonisten Poppy & Alex sind durch ihre unterschiedliche Art soo lustig zusammen; Außerdem absolut liebenswert - auch einzeln, weshalb es auch toll gewesen wäre, Alex POV zu lesen, zumal er mir auch sehr interessant erschien. Ich lieb die zwei einfach!🫶🏻 Perfekt für den Sommer & noch perfekter für den Urlaub. Man begleitet Poppy (Wie süß ist dieser Name eigentlich?!🥹) und Alex über 12 Jahre lang und bereist dabei so viele Orte, lernt tolle Menschen und gegen Mitte auch sich selbst (besser) kennen. »People We Meet on Vacation« kann ich euch, wie ihr in meinen Stories vermutlich gesehen habt, wärmstens empfehlen.🥰

I've never enjoyed a slow-read so much before reading "people we meet on vacation". The dual timeline and Emilys style of writing is just captivating. As I started reading I wasn't quite convinced or into the storyline. I thought the whole read will last forever - in a bad and boring way - turns out, it did absolutely not. Even though the plot is kind of predictable - it take some turns though - it's just an enjoyable read and the slow burn romance... just a perfect lovestory. (Reminded me of my favorit "Love, Rosie" in some ways)

This book is a really a slow burn.... and then when the twist came ( which came then too quickly) it all went so quickly and I had the feeling that the author only had 100 pages to solve everything BUT I loved the writing style and how the author developed through the entire book little details so that in the end you know the whole past of the characters And that's why the book never really gets boring... also the characters have such a strong connection to each other and the love their carrying... damn

Das Buch wurde in meiner Bubble sehr gehyped und ich hatte demnach hohe Erwartungen daran... Daher kam ich zunächst nicht in einem kompletten Lesefluss, aber habe den Rest dann sehr verschlungen. Der Aufbau, von dem ich erstmal etwas verwirrt war, hat mir dann sehr gut gefallen! Und ich wurde komplett abgeholt. Schon nach den ersten paar Seiten war der Spannungsbogen da und wollte erfahren, was im Sommer vor zwei Jahren passiert ist.. dass das ganze erst am Ende des Buches passiert, war mir da schon irgendwie klar. Das Ende hat mich nicht enttäuscht und ich habe mit den beiden gefiebert und gefreut. Werde es in meinem Freundeskreis empfehlen.

Natürlich vorhersehbar, kitschig und unrealistisch - aber das lieb ich doch, wenn ich nach einem leichten Buch für den Strand, den Urlaub und allgemein den Sommer suche. Mir hat es sehr gut gefallen, ich mochte die Charaktere, die Erzählweise und auch den Großteil der Geschichte. (Außerdem habe ich eine richtig tolle floppy Ausgabe gehabt!!) Ich verstehe nicht ganz, wie die Autorin auf den Titel des Romans kam (?), weil das hatte mich für jetzt nicht unbedingt was mit der Geschichte zu tun. Für meinen Geschmack hätte die Geschichte auch auf weniger Seiten erzählt werden können, knapp 400 Seiten wären nicht nötig gewesen. Das Buch hat mir ein ganz tolles warmes Gefühl hinterlassen. 🌞 Möchte jetzt unbedingt noch mehr Bücher der Autorin lesen!

Poppy und Alex sind seit 12 Jahre beste Freunde. Jeden Sommer gehen sie zusammen in den Urlaub bis ein Urlaub alles verändern wird. Wird eine Freundschaft zwischen ihnen weiterhkn bestehen können? Ich habe mir das Buch bereits vor einem Jahr gekauft und dachte es wäre perfekt für den Sommer. Ich habe es über ein Jahr auf meinem SuB liegen lassen und erst jetzt gelesen. Ich muss sagen trotz meinem guten Englischlevel hat es ein bisschen gebraucht bis ich drinnen war und zurzeit mekre ich auch, dass englische Bücher generell nicht mehr mein Favorit sind. Trotz allem war die Geschichte der beiden sehr schön und ab und zu auch tiefgründig. Leider hat es sich für mich zu lange gezogen und ich wollte es am Ende einfach nurnoch fertig haben. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❔️Lest ihr gerne englisch Bücher?

Die Geschichte von Poppy und Alex hat mich sehr berührt. Emily Henry hat das Buch so super geschrieben! Die verschiedenen Rückblicke haben mich am Anfang ein wenig gestört, weil ich dachte ich komme immer wieder aus dem Lesefluss - aaaaber im Nachhinein hat es sehr dabei geholfen die Geschichte der beiden besser nachvollziehen.

Ich hab‘s geliebt ! Ein absoluter Summerread, der sich ganz nach Urlaub anfühlt, egal wo man gerade ist. Alex & Poppy wirken sympathisch und vor allem normal, so dass man sich wirklich mit ihnen identifizieren kann. Es ist mein erstes Buch von Emily Henry, aber es wird ganz sicher nicht mein letztes sein !

i didn't expect to love this as much as i did! literally could be thinking about poppy and alex for hours. so so so funny, cute & relatable!! the first book in a while that i felt like annotating. also my first emily henry's novel and i'm in LOVE with her writing, considering i never see this book being fans' favorite i'm very excited to read the rest (because again i loved this, are the other ones even better??). so yeah this book SPEAKS TO ME!!!

I really liked it. It is very well written. The book is switching between „this summer“ and the twelve summers before. So we see the changes in their relationship and how it build in the years beforehand. It was more like a novel I must say. For a romance there is little romantic things happening in most of the book - but I liked it anyways. It really was funny and in the end kind of cheesy (which is not my favourite). It would have gotten 5 stars if there were more romantic moments and less cheesiness
