Coopers Chase is a peaceful retirement village... Or is it? Four very different residents meet up every Thursday to discuss unsolved murders, but suddenly someone actually dies and suddenly they have an active case on their table. But those reaching 80 years old friends have more than flasks and aching bones up their sleeves.

It is sometimes embarrassing to admit that I started with the fourth book in the series first, by accident, and liked it so much that I decided to actually read from the start too... But after having been convinced by the newest book in the series, I went to where it all started and must say the characters had a definite development. Because it was a good beginning, however, I found the solving of the murder was like an afterthought on the last 10 pages. Throughout the book the four residents do a lot illegal things, make you laugh and chuckle, you get hungry from Joyce's baking, intrigued by Elizabeth's past, want to debate with Ron and are speechless with Ibrahim's brilliance. You will get heavily drunk during their dialogs, shake your head over the police officers, imagine yourself in such a quirly retirement village and want to visit this imaginary place. Pretty sure that it is the characters leading the story and less the fact that people die and justice has to be served. But I like my books with a side of spiked tea and a slice of cake, so no complaints from me!
