God I was so bored reading this. I love lovecraftian horror settings and this book had some great ideas but it was ruined by the complete lack of suspense. The book always immediately tells you what exactly is going on, so theres no suspense at all in terms of "oh my god what is happening" because some helpful character or narrator will immediately step in to tell you what's been happening before you even have to start wondering. I saw everyone raving about this book and was so excited to read it and loved the concept but the way this is written just does nothing for me.
